My wife is in the process of purging old stuff, so many boxes have been placed in the living room to be filled with either garbage or donation items. Rocky discovered a cache of toys held in reserve and decided to put them to good use.
He also found the box with the doggy H al loween costumes. He destroyed those too. The blanket in the background, a gift to him from my daughter, is his favorite. He tries his best to tear it open, but there’s nothing inside.
He was so happy that his tail was just a blur. I had already cleaned up most of the stuffing at this point, so I spared you all the true gore.
Be warned, good citizens of Oppo. The beast awaits.

Bwhahha! My wife is in charge of that table and I do believe that’s a candle. Perhaps reverence for FLW?

We found the remnants of a heart-shaped sque aker by our bedroom door. He ripped the heart right out of something.

My dog, if I actually give him a stuffed animal it’s promptly destroyed. But he somehow doesn’t touch any toys that aren’t “his”. The kids leave stuffies all over the house and he won’t touch them. Bought him a nice bed for his crate, he destroyed it in 2 nights.
Weirdest thing. Helpful for me though.

We have the same problem with dog beds. He’ll lie down, discover his face is near something soft and chew-able , so he starts chewing. Even with a bed available, he prefers to sleep either on the tile or the dining room rug. He’s not a fan of sleeping on dog beds or on the carpet. He’d really like to sleep in our bed, but that’s a big no.

Ozzman is very particular about toys he destroys. At this point we have been through multiple alligators , an elephan t, and a hedgehog. He hasn’t touched his octopus, sloth, or goat. He also has a badger that he loves to carry around and play with, but don’t tear.

Ours tries to sleep on anything soft he can find. drags a blanket off the couch, will sleep on a tiny corner of a sweatshirt if just even the sleeve touches the floor, but when he has a bed of his own he has to “fluff it” to sit down. So he digs in his claws and pulls it up to re-situate it every time he lays down and he ends up destroying it pretty promptly.
He prefers our bed too. We let him on the bed, but not the couches (did the same “fluff it” thing to our brand new couch so he got banned) he lays with my son until he falls asleep, then comes down stairs. Last night he got in bed before I did. He’s getting old though. Pretty sure he turns 10 this year.

So far, the only thing Rocky hasn’t destroyed is the blanket my daughter gave him. Anything else is fair game, whether given to him or stolen by him. When we hear him go into his kennel during the day, we know he has something he shouldn’t and is preparing to chew it to pieces. Usually it’s a random sock he picked up in one of the kids’ rooms.

We are lucky, Ozzy has not messed with anything that wasn’t given to him as a toy. The closest he’s come is I left some socks downstairs with my shoes, and he picked them up and carried them into the living room and laid them out. Didn’t chew them or anything, just moved them. He’s such a weird dog.
Rocky sounds like trouble, though. How old is he?

Rocky is about a year and half. He’ll settle down some in another 18 months or so. He’s smart and super-sweet, he just has a thing for picking up things to chew.

Yeah, he’ll settle down, and hopefully outgrow some of that chewing as he gets older.

Depends on what sort of quantities you have on hand. How many nails are we talking about here?

He’s my second lab. My first one took about 3 years to really calm down. Our second big dog, a golden mix, didn’t take as long.

Half a dozen sizes, like 18 ga x 5/8", et cetera. You know the song: you buy them in plastic bubbles stuck to cards and over time, the plastic deteriorates and they wind up spilled on the ground. I’ve discovered that with a small hammer, I rather enjoy working with them at times.
